Earnest Pugh Continues Chart Success

Dynamic Gospel Singer Earnest Pugh is thrilled about his recent success on the gospel charts.  His breakout hit, “Rain On Us” continues its roll in the Top 10 on the BDS/Billboard chart.  Peaking at the #1 spot, the power ballad takes its seat this week at number 7.  As of July 28, 2010, the song will have celebrated its 52nd week on the chart.  Pugh’s follow up to one of the year’s most popular gospel songs is “The Great I Am”.  An up-tempo cut, “The Great I Am” is currently at the #17 position, giving the artist two songs in the Top 20.

Both tracks are from Earnest Pugh Live: Rain On Us.  Co-produced by Michael Bereal and Earnest Pugh, the critically-acclaimed CD features the talents of gospel greats Vanessa Bell Armstrong and Richard Smallwood.

Pugh is now prepping for the release of another single, “Perfect Peace”, a remake of the Keith Pringle classic.  The track is featured on the forthcoming project, Kerry Douglas Presents: Gospel Mix IV hitting stores in September 2010.

DONNIE MCCLURKIN STEPS TO THE MIC:

TO TALK ABOUT HEALTH WITH DR. OZ
Second Hour And New Voices Added To Hit Radio Show

A busy summer is ahead of international
gospel-singing superstar Donnie McClurkin as he travels the country  singing, speaking and inspiring the masses who listen to his wildly popular radio show.

Up first for the in demand singer is an appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) annual convention.
www.nabj.org  There, McClurkin, who is also a diabetic, will speak and perform on the opening day of the convention during the morning session. He will share the stage with everyone’s favorite doctor, Mehmet C. Oz M.D., fondly known as Dr. Oz.

And set to moderate the onstage interview
with the two men is former CBS Early Show host, Rene Syler.
McClurkin will talk about his health issues with diabetes, giving a familiar face-and inspiration -- to an ailment that affects millions. It’s fitting because the minister also works in the media; he hosts a nationally syndicated radio broadcast, “The Donnie McClurkin Show,” which airs in more than 60 markets. www.donnieradio.com.

hour, called “Gospel Gold,” which highlights classic gospel songs from influential artists including Andrae Crouch, The Hawkins, The Staple Singers, Clara Ward and the legendary James Cleveland. In addition there’s a new segment called “Donnie’s All-Star Kids,” which focuses on children who are doing amazing things in their personal lives and in their community. Recently, McClurkin featured a 15 year-old professional painter, a 14-year-old college student and an 11 year-old who started a program that’s feeding people worldwide.

"My true excitement about the radio show comes from being able to be interactive while reaching several million people. Through radio, internet, and technology I'm able to communicate with the "All Star Kid” segment and our “Kid Bits” segment,” Donnie says. “Kids call in to ask me about the bible or any subject. We're able to interact with listeners on-line taking telephone calls from people all over the world.”

Later in August, he has his annual New York Call conference, which happens August 28th in Eisenhower Park. The minister also is kicking off a series of meetings called “Perfecting Music Ministry Conference,” set to launch August 19 in Chicago. The two-day conference will include day-time workshops with guest speakers and evening services.  www.perfectingmusicconference.com.

“I want to utilize all my gifts to unify and draw from the different wells of knowledge we have.  It’s time to realize that our diversities should not separate us, but in this eclectic display of unity I want to show the true love of God and the true love of man,” says McClurkin.

Darwin Hobbs Released from Hospital

On Friday, July 23, 2010, gospel recording artist and worship leader Darwin Hobbs was released from St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where he had been hospitalized for over a week and treated for blood clots in his lungs and legs.

Hobbs looks forward to resting and recuperating at home. While in the hospital, he had upwards to 15-20 people in his room at a time.  He also looks forward to resuming the promotion of his new CD, Champion.  Over the next two weeks, he will be conducting a series of telephone media interviews.

"This was in no way something Traci and I expected to walk through, but indeed we are walking through it," said Darwin.  "We would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of prayers, calls, emails, tweets, flowers and visits.  The fact is I developed blood clots; the truth is that the blood of Jesus never loses its power and it never clots. I am so excited about all God has planned for my future. The lyrics of many of the songs I sing have new meaning today. 'God Restores' is not only a song I sing, but it is the story of my life. He has restored my life to me. This temporary pain was the hallway to the door of my next dimension of powerful ministry."

DEITRICK HADDON PRESENTS VOICES OF UNITY
ENJOYS THIRD TOP 30 BILLBOARD RADIO HIT
WITH “JUDAH (LET ME HEAR YOU PRAISE)”

"Blessed & Cursed" CD Soundtrack Is In Stores Now
Motion Picture ON DVD July 27, 2010

Deitrick Haddon Presents Voices of Unity is in the spotlight again. In the past, the Detroit-based ensemble enjoyed Top 30 Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart smashes with “He’s Able” and “Watch Me Praise Him.”  The new single “Judah (Let me Hear Your Praise)” is Billboard’s Hot Shot Debut this week, coming in at #30 on the chart. The rock-edged song with a New Orleans rhythm is bound to keep the saints bobbing their heads throughout the warm summer months and into the holiday season.

The song is the lead single from the twelve-track “Blessed & Cursed” (Tyscot Records) CD soundtrack that features Voices of Unity backing a range of soloists ranging from former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams to Men of Standard’s Lowell Pye who duets with BET Sunday Best finalist Jessica Reedy on “Praise In The House.”

The music serves as the backdrop to Deitrick Haddon’s direct to DVD movie, Blessed & Cursed that will be released July 27, 2010. Haddon was inspired to pen the film script as he was preparing a sermon. “I’m a pastor now, so I’m doing more studying than I’ve ever done in my life,” said Haddon. “I was studying the story of Saul and David and the dynamics within their relationship…this movie just opened up to me.” Soon after, Haddon pitched the script to his manager, Holly Carter (Releve Entertainment), and Tyscot Records’ Vice President, Bryant Scott, and got the reels rolling. The film was shot in Haddon’s hometown of Detroit, MI. There are cameos by Haddon’s wife, singer DAMITA, soul legend Rance Allen, and TV personality Bobby Jones. This is the legendary Tyscot label’s first foray into film. For more information visit: www.tyscot.com

THE POTUS SPEAKS

Filibustering Recovery & Obstructing Progress

Following the signing of historic Wall Street Reform legislation, the President lays out his plans to strengthen the middle class, give tax breaks to small businesses that create jobs here, invest in homegrown, clean energy, and cut taxes for working families. The President also contrasts that plan with the agenda outlined by the Republican House Leader that would return America to the policies that created this economic crisis, drastically increase the deficit, and make permanent massive tax breaks for the very wealthiest Americans.

Bishop Boone Calls FOIC to Miss. July 29

'It's time for the Fellowship to gather.'

Bishop Wellington Boone, chief prelate of the Fellowship of International Churches, has accepted an invitation from Bishop Ronnie Crudup of the Mid-South Diocese of FOIC to convene the entire FOIC movement at New Horizon Church in Jackson, Mississippi, from July 29-31, 2010, for a Holy Convocation.

Classes will offer practical insights from leaders in vital areas of ministry and the youth and collegiate group will have dynamic meetings with Gerard Henry, former host of BET's "Lift Every Voice." I will give you an exciting update on my mission to African leaders. Come and receive from God His wisdom and His focus on the realm of eternity."
