Music World Gospel Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary
(Now The World's Largest Owned and Operated African American Gospel Label)
Music World Gospel celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year. An imprint of Music World Music, it was founded in 2002 by Mathew Knowles, President and CEO of Music World Entertainment, and is currently the largest owned and operated African American Gospel label in the world. Music World Gospel’s 10th anniversary celebration coincides with the 20th Anniversary celebration of Music World Entertainment.
In Billboard magazine’s 2010 year-end issue, Music World Gospel held Top 5 and Top 10 positions on the gospel charts, and the label ranked on nine of the 11 charts. Music World Gospel was #4 on the Hot Gospel Songs Imprint chart, ranked #6 as the Hot Gospel Songs Label and was #9 on the Top Gospel Albums Labels chart. Looking ahead, Music World Gospel is expanding the label's release schedule in 2012 to include over 45 new releases, and will be making other faith-based acquisitions, which will be announced in the coming months.

The 13th annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, an NFL sanctioned event, comes to Indy during Super Bowl XLVI Weekend with an evening of inspiration with legendary NFL Pro Bowlers, Super Bowl Champions and MVPs together on one stage with Grammy Award-winning artists, A-list entertainers and special guests. The show will tape before a live audience on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Clowes Memorial Hall of Butler University. Produced by Central City Productions, Inc., the telecast is scheduled to air as a one-hour program.
The multi-talented Wayne Brady, current host of the iconic CBS game show Let’s Make A Deal, will host the event, with gospel’s sweetheart, CeCe Winans, as co-host. American Idol winner Fantasia will headline the show -- which includes a duo with her mother Diane Barrino -- with performances by top gospel and contemporary Christian artists Natalie Grant, Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker and “Players Choice” Wess Morgan, and Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound 2011 Overall Winning Choir, Salvation and Deliverance Church Choir.

Karew Records Signs Jonathan Nelson to an Exclusive Recording Agreement
Karew (pronounced: Kuh-rue) Records has signed multiple Stellar Award winner and GMA Dove nominated recording artist Jonathan Nelson to an exclusive recording agreement, the company announced recently. Nelson, one of gospel music's top contemporary worship leaders and songwriters, has a new project that will be released by Karew Records in late spring/early summer 2012."I am thrilled to have joined the Karew Records family with Bishop J. Drew Sheard and Karen Clark Sheard," said Jonathan Nelson. "I had my first experience in the gospel music industry with Karen more than 10 years ago; how fitting to now be joined to her company. John P. Kee: New Music & Receives James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement
Twenty one-time Stellar Award winner, Pastor John P. Kee received the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award for his historical and significant contributions to gospel music at the 27th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards on Saturday, January 14 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN. Kirk Franklin presented the award to a tearful Pastor Kee.
An icon in American music, Pastor Kee and the New Life Community Choir will release a new CD this spring. The new single, “Life And Favor (You Don’t Know My Story,)” will be released to gospel radio this month. The single features special guest artists, including LeJuene Thompson and James Fortune. “One of the greatest assets that we have as Christians is our testimony,” said Pastor Kee. “It is that testimony that reveals the true nature of our deliverance. God has graced me with the ability to share these trials and triumphs through melody. This single, ‘Life And Favor (You Don't Know My Story,)’ has become a memorable melody in the lives of thousands. When you find yourself singing the vamp uncontrollably, we’ll know undoubtedly that you too have a story.”
