Music World Gospel Joins AHA For Its
“Most Powerful Voices Gospel Tour”

The American Heart Association’s Power to End Stroke campaign has launched a partnership with one of the world’s leading entertainment and music conglomerates, Music World Gospel/Music World Entertainment, founded by Mathew Knowles, in an effort to help raise awareness of stroke in the African American community.

Music World Gospel and award-winning best-selling gospel trio Trin-i-tee 5:7, who in 2008 became the first gospel trio to have a certified platinum album, T57, and contemporary break-through artist Brian Courtney Wilson, whose debut album, Just Love has been at the No. 1 spot on the CMTA Inspirational Album Chart for more than 40 weeks, will lend their talent and support to the “Most Powerful Voices Gospel Tour,” an evening of empowering music fused with healthy lifestyle messaging. The tour will travel to seven markets – Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, and San Antonio, TX; Little Rock, AR; and Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK, beginning October 8 when it makes its first stop in Little Rock.

“This partnership with the American Heart Association marks a new platform for Music World Gospel to continue meaningful and lasting inspiration in our community. Our effort is to create awareness of stroke, a disease that is ripping through our communities and shortening the lives of our loved ones,” said Mathew Knowles, C.E.O. and President of Music World Gospel/Music World Entertainment.  “Health is paramount. If we can combine this important message with uplifting music, we hope that lives will be touched, transformed and ultimately healed.”

This event is more than just a concert.  It launches with an opportunity for local gospel acts in each of the seven markets to show off their talent and perform at a live audition featuring Trin-i-tee 5:7, who will perform, as well as serve as judges, for the evening. Top acts will then be selected to perform on the night of the concert featuring headliner, Marvin Sapp.  Brian Courtney Wilson opens for Sapp and will share songs from his forthcoming CD project, Just Love Deluxe Edition,” which hits stores on October 5.

The “Most Powerful Voices Gospel Tour” combines the celebrity status of spokespeople who can share empowering stroke messaging through music while urging concert-goers to be aware of their risk for stroke and to know the warning signs and how to respond if a stroke occurs.  They will also be urged to make a declaration to take control of their health toward living longer, stronger lives.

Stroke is the third-leading cause of death and a leading cause of long-term disability among African-Americans.  This population has almost twice the risk of suffering first-ever strokes as compared to whites.  African-Americans ages 35-54 have four times the relative risk of stroke.

Stephen Hurd 6th Live Recording August 27th
“Oh That Men Would Worship”

Night of Praise, At Artist’s Home Church, First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Upper Marlboro, MD, To Feature Anthony Evans, Jason Nelson and Anthony Brown

For worship leader Stephen Hurd, praise to God is a mandate, not an option.  The 2010 Stellar Award winner and Dove Award-nominated artist and songwriter has led congregations into the presence of God for over 20 years now.  Currently the Senior Pastor of Music at First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Upper Marlboro, MD, under the pastorate of Rev. John K. Jenkins, Sr., Hurd is known for hits such as “Amazing,”, “Undignified”, “Great Praise” and “Zion Is Calling”.  The popular worship leader is prepping for his next live recording called “Oh That Men Would Worship”, set to take place at First Baptist Church of Glenarden (600 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774 – 301.773.3600) on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 7:30PM.  This CD & DVD Live Recording is free of charge and doors open at 6:00PM; seats are available on a first come, first served basis.

The theme of the CD comes from the heart of the artist, a vision which had been laying dormant for about 5 or 6 years.  “This concept of the project centers around giving men the liberty to worship God without fear or insecurity,” says Hurd.  “It’s about setting free husbands, fathers and brothers so that they can set a better example of what worship is.  It’s about helping men to understand that they can love God and worship God and still be masculine and not ashamed.  Not only will men be set free, but once freed, I believe they can set better examples for their wives and daughters.”

Sharing producer’s credits are Hurd himself, Justin Savage (Donald Lawrence, Donnie McClurkin, Jonathan Nelson), who has worked and written for Hurd previously, and Anthony Brown, songwriter of Maurette Brown Clark’s mega-hit “It Ain’t Over”.  Christian recording artist Anthony Evans will be taking part in the worship experience as well.  Son of famed Pastor Tony Evans and former backup vocalist for Kirk Franklin, Evans is a soloist artist with 4 projects under his belt.  Jason Nelson, pastor of Greater Bethlehem Temple in Baltimore, will be joining Hurd as well.  Twin brother of Jonathan Nelson, Jason is a gifted recording artist and songwriter in his own right known for penning songs for Marvin Sapp including “Don’t Count Me Out”, “Thirsty” and “Place of Worship”.  The live recording is sponsored in part by World Vision, a cause close to Stephen Hurd’s heart and an organization he’s been affiliated with for about 8 years now.

Stephen is inviting worship leaders and men to come from all over to be a part of what’s certain to be a powerful time of praise.  He prays that the event will be one of deliverance.  He says, “I believe this night will be a place of healing for brothers that have been broken and disenfranchised and for men who have not had a healthy understanding of who God is in their lives.”

Hurd has previously released the Stellar Award winning project Times of Refreshing, My Destiny, and Call To Worship on the Integrity Gospel label and two independent projects, Corporate Worship and In The Overflow.  The artist has performed on TBN’s “Praise The Lord”, BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel and made many other national appearances.  For more information, log on to www.hurdthewordmusic.com.

INTEGRITY MUSIC LAUNCHES FIRST EVER CHRISTIAN ARTIST ITUNES LP™

Multiple GRAMMY, Stellar, Dove Award Winner Israel Houghton's "Love God. Love People"  in stores August 31, Featuring Special Guest Vocalists Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Take 6

Integrity Music launches the first ever Christian artist iTunes LP in support of multiple GRAMMY, Stellar and Dove Award winner, Soul Train Award winner and double RIAA certified Gold-selling artist Israel Houghton and his critically acclaimed album, Love God. Love People., releasing August 31 on Integrity Music/Columbia Records.  Houghton also becomes the first artist, mainstream or Christian, to have an LP release that includes interactive social network capabilities, a music mixer and Bible verses, as well as the ability to create your own album cover.  Other artists who have popular LPs include John Mayer, Dave Mathews, Lifehouse, OneRepublic and Christina Aguilera.

After becoming the first Christian artist with an iPhone application last year, Houghton returns to lead the way for the industry with his iTunes LP, a format developed by Apple Inc. to bring back and even enhance the experience of owning the “long play” recording.  Houghton’s Love God. Love People. iTunes LP, available Aug. 31 at www.itunes.com/israelhoughton, interactively includes not only the new music, but also animated lyrics, chord charts, liner notes, performance videos, photos and other bonus materials, as well as the first-ever interactive “Mixer.”

The Love God. Love People. iTunes LP “Mixer” area allows the user to control the mix of the song, “The Name Of,” featured on the new album. Users can pull the lead vocals, background vocals, drums, guitar, bass, and keyboard in or out of the song, or use any combinationsthereof.  Similarly, users can interact with the first-ever LP “Create A Cover,” making their own Love God. Love People. cover artwork, which they then can share with friends on their social networks.

“We are very excited to bring a whole new level of interactivity to this exclusive iTunes music experience,” says Chris Estes, Integrity Music sr. director of digital media.  “This new platform brings the best of both worlds together. Fans will experience the album like never before and be able to create unique content inside the LP. When you combine that with social network interaction, it becomes a valuable shared experience.  We really wanted to push the envelope in this new media, so the best place to start was in the Facebook and Twitter arenas where Israel is well established with over 100,000 fans.  I believe this will be a great album experience for the fans.  I don’t know any other iTunes LPs that offer chord charts, video, extra audio, cover art creation tools, and rich media interactions all for $12.99.”

Other significant features on the iTunes LP include:

- The first-ever "Interactive Bible" that displays a new verse everyday focusing on loving God and loving people.

- A "Song List" play area lets the user, for the first time ever on an iTunes LP, share what song is being listened to via Twitter.

- A “Work Tape” area that features early “demo” song versions being played by Houghton and co-producers Aaron Lindsey and Tommy Sims.

- “Black Cab Sessions” that includes a “making of the album” video filmed at the world famous Abbey Road Studios in London, known for being the studio where all the Beatles records were recorded, as well as a host of other best-selling artists.

- Three custom “visualizers” that cue with selected songs and feature recording studio photos, album artwork and more.

“Love God. Love People. is a return to a simple, foundational Gospel command: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself,” says Israel.  “Virtually every song touches on this profound simplicity. It all comes down to ‘Love God, love people.’ Period.”

The album features the musically masterful energy that has become synonymous with Israel Houghton recordings, and includes special guest appearances by Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond and Take 6’s Claude V. McKnight, III, Mark Kibble and Joey Kibble, as well as song co-writes with Meleasa Houghton, Aaron Lindsey, Tommy Sims and Michael Gungor.  Love God. Love People. blends the musical genres of worship, rock, pop, Gospel and R&B and was recorded and engineered at Abbey Road Studios.

Writing or co-writing all but one of the songs on Love God. Love People., Israel creates music that breaks down barriers and defies categorization.  Israel uses his own multi-cultural upbringing as a reference point with a desire to draw people of all races, ages and cultures together. Israel laughingly describes himself as “black kid who grew up in a white family in a Hispanic neighborhood.”

Active as worship leader in his local church, Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church, Houston, Israel has served as worship leader at Hillsong conferences, Franklin Graham crusades, and is a featured CompassionArt songwriter and artist.  Israel also ministers through concerts in the U.S. and around the world, has accompanied Alicia Keys at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards for a performance of George Michael's “Freedom '90,” and has performed at the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards, taking part in a segment saluting Gospel music alongside the likes of Aretha Franklin and BeBe Winans.
