   DEITRICK HADDON
      CHATS ABOUT
 “BLESSED & CURSED”

Gospel star Deitrick Haddon, and several of the youth at the High Praise Church he pastors in Detroit, MI are meeting on two Monday nights for an online chat session about Haddon’s  movie, “Blessed & Cursed.”
The purpose of the chats is to give Haddon fans and movie buffs a chance to ask questions about the movie and the topics that are discussed in the movie such as integrity, betrayal, and fornication. Fans and movie lovers can join the discussion for the next two Monday evenings (September 6, 2010 @ 7:00-9:00 p.m. EST and September 13, 2010 @ 7:00-9:00 p.m. EST).

A modern twist on the biblical tale of David and Saul, “Blessed & Cursed” (the DVD is in stores now) is a story of pain, deceit and triumph that depicts Dwight Hawkins' (Deitrick Haddon) struggle to realize his God-given purpose. Dwight must choose between a family obligation and pursuing his own dreams of gospel music superstardom.  Given an incredible opportunity to become a psalmist at the city's largest church, Dwight soon realizes that this new position is too good to be true as he gets caught up in a diabolical scheme of jealousy and betrayal orchestrated by the church's deacon and fueled by the pastor himself. The screenplay is based on a story written by Haddon.

  "Gospel Mix IV”
  Hits Stores 8/31

Over the last decade, Blacksmoke Music Worldwide CEO Kerry Douglas has become known throughout the gospel music industry as the man who turns unknown singers into gospel’s next superstars. Among the artists he’s broken is James Fortune whose 2008 breakthrough song “I Trust You” spent 29 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart – the second longest run in the history of the chart.

While major gospel labels solicit established artists to record, Douglas is building his brand by developing the undeveloped. His forthcoming, Kerry Douglas Presents Gospel Mix IV CD/DVD, is the latest in his hit series of compilation CDs that have introduced now established gospel artists such as Jimmy Hicks and James Fortune to the public.

The new project features the radio smash “I Believe” that features James Fortune & FIYA, Shawn Mclemore and Zacardi Cortex. The dramatic ballad cracked Billboard’s Top Ten Hot Gospel Songs chart within three weeks of it being serviced to radio. Already six of the CD’s 17 songs  are in rotation on the BDS Top 100 Gospel Playlist. The package also includes a 14-track DVD featuring live performances or concept videos of the various artists on the audio CD such as James Fortune, Keith  “Wonderboy” Johnson, Earnest Pugh, The Brown Boyz and Jimmy Hicks.

Pugh, the artist who brought you the #1 Gospel Single, “Rain On Us” has a blazing “hot” track on the cd, as well.  The powerhouse vocalist does a remixed version of the classic “Perfect Peace,” produced by Ayron Lewis and Douglas. The single is a “must have” for gospel music lovers as it is definitely one of Pugh’s most impressive vocal performances on a CD recording to date. Pugh uses all five octaves of his limitless range to flawlessly deliver a message of hope to those searching for peace. He climaxes the song with a squalling-churchy sermonette that is sure to take the church up in praise!

“We’re doing something no one else is doing,” says Douglas. “We’re not taking old hits and repackaging them. We’re taking new songs and making them today’s hits through the Gospel Mix IV CD/DVD.” Douglas is insuring the project’s success with an aggressive marketing campaign

that will feature radio and national television advertising, and a Motown Revue-styled fall concert tour (by bus) starring the various artists featured on the Gospel Mix IV. “It’s part of my vision to take artists who have talent and anointing and give them a national platform,” Douglas adds.

National TO SAVE A LIFE Week Touch 1 Million Lives
A Message of Hope for Hurting Teens

September 6-12 Events Planned to Prevent Suicides

During the week of September 6-12, corresponding with National Suicide Prevention Week, New Song Pictures and Outreach Films, the creators of the #1 faith-based film of 2010 "To Save A Life" plan to use the movie as a vehicle to save lives and inspire teens to reach out to their communities and engage with the hurting and lonely in their midst.

Since its theatrical release in January, To Save A Life has impacted over 600,000 teens, youth workers, coaches, pastors and parents who viewed the film in theaters. Thousands have written in to the To Save A Life Web site (ToSaveALifeMovie.com/stories) to share their response to the film. And just about 160,000 have created an active community on the To Save A Life Facebook page sharing their compelling and often heartbreaking personal stories, and supporting each other as they navigate the challenges of life.

Topically, the film fearlessly tackles a number of subjects that teens confront on a daily basis, including depression, suicide, bullying, teen pregnancy, cutting, substance abuse and body image. High school is a much more challenging place than it was just a few years ago, and teens need help and guidance in navigating these challenges.

Because of this, the teams at Outreach have set an objective of seeing one million lives touched during this week through the hosting of To Save A Life events and movie screenings across America.

The concept is simple. During this week, churches, families, pastors, teachers, coaches, mentors and teens themselves are encouraged to invite their friends to watch To Save A Life with them. The goal is to have the film shown in over 10,000 locations, where every teen in America can see the movie either in a church, home, store, classroom, auditorium or theater.

Afterwards, participants are challenged to go to the next level. It's not enough to just talk about the change you want to see--To Save A Life Week is about action, and viewers are encouraged to be a catalyst for this change. Some students may start a "Lunch Club" to help befriend the lonely kids in their school. Some may start actively inviting new people to their youth group or club meetings. Others may plan events with experts or mentors who can help teens navigate the challenges in their lives. A new school year is never easy for teens in crisis--To Save A Life Week can help ease some of these tensions while providing a solid message of hope for those who are hurting.

To help teens and those who care for them, Outreach has created a series of tools designed to get the process and conversation started, including inspirational books, novels, social media tools, curriculums and topical helps. Several Web sites, including ToSaveALifeLeaders.com, can help leaders looking for ideas and resources. Outreach is dedicated to maintaining the momentum of the To Save A Life movement and inspiring a generation to reach out to hurting and lonely people.

To Save A Life is rated PG-13 for mature thematic elements involving teen suicide, teen drinking, some drug content, disturbing images and sexuality.

The NFL And United Way Team Up For Youth
Health and Wellness!

Back to Football Friday" is a fun and exciting effort to promote youth health and wellness. With your help, the NFL and United Way will raise awareness about the importance of an active lifestyle for our nation's youth -- and in the process give away great prizes, including tickets to the Super Bowl.

Getting involved is simple: Just sign up and wear your favorite NFL team's football gear on September 10th, the start of football season. You'll help raise awareness about childhood obesity and be entered for a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLV!

Wearing your favorite team's gear on September 10th is a good way to start raising awareness for youth health and wellness, but there's a lot more to it than that.

The NFL and United Way have been working together for more than 35 years, and for every person who signs up to get involved in Back to Football Friday, we'll gain more momentum in the fight against childhood obesity.  With your help this effort will make a real difference. Take a moment to register and make sure you don't miss out on being a part of it all at http://liveunited.org/btff-signup

If you want to go one step further, get a bunch of friends or coworkers involved and we'll throw the winning group an NFL hosted party. All you have to do is send us a photo of your group, showing your team pride and support of youth health and wellness, and a photo caption.  "Back to Football Friday" is the perfect time to combine your love of giving back with a little football flare.

Thanks so much for taking the time to get involved.

Sincerely,

Tracey Holmes
Director, NFL and United Way Partnership
